Beowulf is a classic Anglo-Saxon epic poem and one of the earliest major works
in the English literary tradition. The narrative centers on the hero Beowulf,
a noble warrior of the Geats. When the aged Danish king Hrothgar is
plagued by a fearsome monster named Grendel, who relentlessly attacks
the great hall of Heorot and slays numerous warriors, Beowulf sails to
Denmark to aid him. In a mighty hand-to-hand struggle, Beowulf kills Grendel
using only his extraordinary strength. Soon after, Grendel’s mother seeks
